References for Bernie's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

I/ We have been customers of Bernie's carpet cleaning since 1994. We had been pleased with their polite and excellent service until we called them recently to pick up a couple of family heirloom rugs, one which was very large and needed special treatment. We explained that we would need to have them hold the rugs for a few months. We had not had any problem before, but suddenly our rugs are "missing"!!!!! We have tried to contact the owner, who we were told is still Bernie, but he has not returned any calls. We are very upset, of course - having paid a deposit of 75% of the cleaning and repairs already! We hadn't needed their service in the last few years, but the office manager, Betty, had always been very very honest and good and always remembered us anyway(we heard she passed away recently). We STRONGLY recommend that you DO NOT use their services AT ALL, as it appears the new management is as questionable and unreliable as the previous one was good. We are working to retrieve our rugs and pray for us that we do. But because of this we feel that the new management is problematic at best and dishonest at worst. Buyer beware!!

This is not a local company; moreover, they subcontract out to have your area rugs cleaned with very poor central organization.
